Our thoughts are potent forces.

An ancient Buddhist principle asserts that our thoughts shape our destiny. Therefore, our karma is essentially determined by what we think, speak, and do. Recent research indicates that the average person has around sixty thousand thoughts per day, with 80% of them being negative. Furthermore, studies reveal that every thought carries significant consequences. In this context, the “law of resonance” can be applied to elucidate the phenomenon wherein the events we encounter in life are not mere chance occurrences but are attracted to us based on our conscious or unconscious thoughts..

There exists a direct causal relationship between our inner mindset and our experiences in the external world. Hence, it is crucial to avoid saying “I can’t do it” simply because we feel insecure or controlled by the fear of failure. Such negative self-perceptions contradict the power of daimoku or prayer, which aligns our consciousness with the infinite cosmic consciousness.
Do you often find yourself thinking or saying that you are overweight, unattractive, or inadequate, and that you will never achieve success? Conversely, do you think and affirm that you are remarkable, worthy, and beautiful? Words and thoughts possess a far greater influence than we can comprehend. It is essential to be mindful of the names and labels we use to define ourselves. This awareness can make a difference in manifesting our desires or unwanted outcomes. Each word we utter carries a unique vibration that resonates within our bodies the moment it is spoken. The same principle applies to the vibrational power of chanting daimoku, which can be felt on a physical level.

You may recall the astonishing findings of the Gas Discharge Visualization (GDV) measurement concerning our energy field and chakras, as detailed in the book ‘Change Your Energy, Change Your Life’ by Susanne Matsudo-Killiani and Yukio Matsudo.
The Power of Our Intentions
Thoughts emit an energetic frequency that permeates all directions, seeking similar frequencies. When such resonance is established, like attracts like, and thoughts materialize into reality. Once we recognize that our thoughts possess tangible force, we also comprehend why external circumstances are influenced by our wishes, visualizations, and aspirations. Whatever we focus on within the invisible realm of our thoughts eventually takes shape in the outer world.

An intriguing study conducted by journalist and author Lynne McTaggart explored whether the power of thought and intention can influence a physical environment located thousands of kilometers away. She initiated an intention experiment involving the Russian physicist Konstantin Korotkov, the inventor of the GDV measurement device.
The GDV was employed to measure changes in people’s energy fields and the energy within the room while they chanted daimoku. Lynne used the same device to investigate the effects of group intention.
During the World Happiness Summit in Miami, USA, in 2017, Lynne conceived an idea. She wondered if the collective intention of her audience, comprising 1,000 individuals, could somehow impact a bottle of water placed in Dr. Korotkov’s office in St. Petersburg, Russia, thousands of kilometers away. Was such an influence feasible?
Dr. Korotkov arranged specific equipment to measure energetic changes in the room, all of which were connected to a computer system. Some of these devices could detect variations in the room’s electrical charge, sensitive to fluctuations in environmental electromagnetic fields.
As the audience in Miami evoked feelings of love within themselves and envisioned sending it directly to the distant water, Dr. Korotkov activated his equipment to monitor any changes in his office. After Lynne informed him that the audience had concluded their intention, he turned off his devices. Later, he analyzed the measurements and sent the results to Lynne. Astonishingly, the audience’s intention had produced a significant effect, resulting in a substantial alteration in the electromagnetic charge throughout the room housing the water bottle.
While some may view such an experiment as lacking strict scientific rigor, it does provide an indication that we possess tremendous potential to create peace and tranquility in our surroundings, even across vast distances. It implies that we can indeed influence certain crucial areas on Earth.
The intention of love and peace begets a harmonious atmosphere. As the adage goes, “as within, so without.”
The inner feeling and intention of peace generate external serenity. As Lynne McTaggart aptly states, “Given the prevalence of terrorist activities, a collective intention for peace could be our most powerful weapon.”
Numerous experiments in the field of consciousness research provide evidence that thoughts possess tangible energy and can have a physical impact on both living and non-living entities. Personally, I have frequently observed that the positive thoughts and intentions we convey through chanting generate a positive and contagious energy that shields us from negative intentions. The power of intention knows no bounds.
Consciousness research suggests that our thoughts and intentions have the ability to alter our surroundings, transcending the constraints of time and space. This is a remarkable claim that I would have been skeptical about if it weren’t for the actual proof experienced by Susanne Matsudo-Killiani.
In April 2017, Susanne participated in one of the intention experiments conducted by researcher and author Lynne McTaggart. The experiment involved approximately 70 individuals and took place through a web conference, as she explained.
She described the experiment as follows:
“After a while, the participants were divided into pairs and connected with each other to interact. My partner was Joanne, a woman from the USA. During our conversation, I learned personal details about her, such as her ownership of a dog and her residence in Chicago. We discussed the fact that we lived thousands of kilometers apart and in different time zones.
Eventually, we were instructed to prepare for the experiment. One of us would “send” the other an image of an object that held emotional significance for the sender. The other person would be the “receiver.” In our case, I would be open to receiving Joanne’s image.
The experiment began, and I knew that Joanne was envisioning an object that I was supposed to discern. I focused on receiving what she was sending, and the first image that came to my mind was that of a tree. This impression was strong, and I continued to see a tree. However, suddenly, I also “saw” an image of a beach and “heard” the soothing sound of the ocean. A tree on a beach by the ocean? My analytical mind started questioning the coherence of this image. Growing up, I had associated trees with mountains or hills, not beaches. I then realized that some noise on the line might have triggered the idea of an ocean in my mind. Nevertheless, the strongest sensation I felt was that of a tree. It reminded me of a particular spot in Mallorca, a Spanish island in the Mediterranean Sea, where my husband and I had sat on a beach.
When the time was up, I revealed to Joanne what I had received, and she shared what she had been sending. I told her that I didn’t just see one object but rather a whole scene—a tree on a beach with the sea behind it. I openly expressed my confusion about the lack of sense in this image. However, Joanne was astonished and immediately exclaimed, ‘That’s exactly what I was sending to you! I was thinking of a tree on a beach, a place I used to enjoy, but the tree no longer exists.’
Upon hearing this, I felt shivers down my spine. Could this be real? Had I truly sensed a picture that someone had “sent” to me over thousands of kilometers? I had read about the power of intention transcending time and space, but now it had become a reality for me. Joanne informed me that she had been looking at a photograph of this tree while sending it, and she proceeded to send me the picture through Facebook. I eagerly waited to see the photograph, and there it was—the exact scene that I had perceived.
This small experiment made the power of intention undeniably real to me. It showed me that intention knows no limits and can transcend space and time. Despite the thousands of kilometers between Joanne and me, and our lack of prior contact, there was a connection. I could sense the picture and the emotions she was “sending” to me. It was then that I realized the immense power when we chant for someone.
The location of the person you send your intention to doesn’t matter. The power of your intention will reach them because we are all interconnected within a vast consciousness.”
Others are aware of your emotions
This small experiment in telepathy between Sussane and Joanne made me realize on a deeply personal level that our thoughts are not confined to our minds alone.
We are consistently leaking our thoughts and ideas through brainwave frequencies, forming psychic connections with others.
Our thoughts and emotions are concrete and tangible forces. Many similar experiments have clearly demonstrated that we are like open channels, with others picking up on the emotional energy of our thoughts.
Whatever thoughts or feelings we have about a particular person are not limited to our minds or hearts; they vibrate through the quantum field and resonate with the intended recipient.
The other person can perceive this on an invisible level and respond accordingly. That’s why people can change once we alter our attitude towards them.
You can imagine yourself as a powerful radio tower, constantly broadcasting your thoughts and emotions. Each thought and feeling you have receives a synchronous response, as if you have made a request.
In this way, you shape your own life through your thoughts and receive a corresponding response. This is exactly how karma is formed. Therefore, it’s important to understand why certain things happen to you. The first step in breaking this chain of causality is becoming aware of your predominant thoughts, even those that are unconscious. It’s crucial to examine the thoughts and emotions you are projecting.
Thoughts have tangible energy
Any intense thought, whether positive or negative, will eventually impact your life. Let me provide an example to illustrate this:
Sussane had an epiphany on a sunny autumn day in 2016. She was about to go to town in her car when it failed to start. It turned out that the engine had completely broken down without any prior warning.
This incident happened at an inconvenient time, which made her feel frustrated. She started to see herself as a victim of circumstances. For years, she had cherished the dream of driving a sporty convertible, and she finally had the means to afford it. However, lately, she had been complaining internally about the car because it was too small to transport things or give someone a lift. Every year, she dreaded the possibility of snow because the car often got stuck. She regularly discussed with her husband the need for a “winter-proof car.”
And now, the engine of this expensive and wonderful car had suddenly failed. The repair shop informed them that it couldn’t be fixed. They unexpectedly had to purchase a new car.
This incident should teach us to be careful about what we ask for and how we express our desires. If we don’t do it with positive, grateful, and expectant intentions, we may not like the way our intentions manifest in reality.
The situation described above reflected Sussane’s internal attitude. In some way, she had even created it. This incident made her aware of her unconscious intentions, which perhaps manifest even more frequently than our conscious ones.
In this case, it feels as though her complaints about her wonderful car had somehow attracted this situation.
Negative intentions can become reality
Lynne McTaggart, a bestselling author, suggests that every thought, just like our hopes, desires, and longings, carries its own energy that can change the molecular structure of our environment.
Everything depends on the energy of our thoughts. If things don’t work out as desired, we should consider whether our thoughts lack clarity and strength.
We need to be constantly mindful of our thoughts because they shape our reality. First, our internal reality and, after a period of time, our external reality. Without this awareness, we tend to feel, think, and act on autopilot.
If we don’t want to experience negativity in our external reality, we need to renew our minds. According to Lynne McTaggart, she further realized the power of thought energy when speaking with a woman who had been practicing for a couple of years.
Sometimes, when she took chanting seriously, she made progress and managed to improve her living situation, for example by finding a better apartment. But most of the time, she fell back into her old patterns of pessimisticthinking, which hindered her progress. She worked as a teacher for handicapped children and constantly expressed her dissatisfaction with her job to everyone.
She truly desired to do something else but couldn’t see a way out. She often said, “I wish I could be sick so that I wouldn’t have to work anymore.” However, Yukio advised her to be cautious and not to think or speak in such a manner because if she continued, she might eventually become ill.
She didn’t take his advice seriously and continued with her own mindset. Three years later, her wish to become ill became a reality, and she required a heart operation. Now she was too weak to return to work. She had achieved her “goal” and could retire early.
When Sussane and Yukio visited her in the hospital, she expressed regret for not appreciating her health before because she lacked the energy to truly enjoy life.
At the time, Yukio was quite shocked at how accurately her “wish” had materialized. Unconsciously, she had “intended” to become ill.
Consider thoughts as flowers or weeds in a garden. Make an effort to uproot weak, negative thoughts (weeds) by nurturing stronger, more powerful thoughts (flowers). Focus on them more frequently. However, this is easier said than done, considering that researchers inform us that about 80% of our thoughts tend to be negative.
This is where the vibrational power of daimoku comes into play, as it interrupts this negative cycle in a concrete way, as we will explore in subsequent articles.
Indeed, thoughts and intentions are physical entities — tangible energy with the incredible power to influence our world. Therefore, let’s always be mindful of our thoughts, words, feelings, and, most importantly, our actions. They can manifest without us even realizing it.
