Gozah’s Wager: A compelling argument for living a life of Value creation.
No matter what one believes about the existence of an afterlife. It suggests that by cultivating uprightness, morality, kindness and personal growth, one has nothing to lose.
Whether this life is all there is or another existence awaits, pursuing meaning through positive and good deeds as well as transforming every life situation for the better creates value both today and perhaps forevermore.
This is a wager inspired by DAISAKU IKEDA’s proclamation;
President Ikeda proclaims: “Death will come to each of us some day. We can die having fought hard for our beliefs and convictions, or we can die having failed to do so. Since the reality of death is the same in either case, isn’t it far better that we set out on our journey toward the next existence in high spirits with a bright smile on our faces—knowing that in everything we did, we did the very best we could, thrilling with the thought ‘That was truly an interesting life!” (October 24, 1997, World Tribune, p. 11).
Drawing insights from this, the Gozah’s wager could be expressed as follows..
“If there is no afterlife, then living a fulfilling life and doing one’s best to create value is the best way to live. One has nothing to lose. Also , If there is an afterlife, then living a fulfilling life and doing one’s best to create value will increase one’s chances of a favorable outcome. One has nothing to lose..Either way, you win.”
So it’s logical to put down good roots and create value regardless of the existence or the non existence of an afterlife”.
Gozah’s Wager, as stated above, is a philosophical concept that encourages individuals to live a fulfilling and upright life, regardless of their beliefs about the existence of an afterlife.
The wager suggests that whether an afterlife exists or not, living a life of value creation and doing one’s best will lead to positive outcomes.

By adhering to ethical principles, showing kindness, compassion, and empathy towards others, and striving for personal and spiritual development, individuals increase their chances of experiencing a positive outcome in the afterlife, should it exist.

The essence of Gozah’s Wager lies in the notion that, regardless of the existence or non-existence of an afterlife, there is nothing to lose by living a value creation and fulfilling life.
